V jubilee edition of film festival on protection of environment in Montenegro in our production!

The festival is held in one of the most beautiful natural environments in Europe – the Durmitor National Park. During four days of the festival, from 3th to 6th of August, large number of tourists, guests and locals would have an opportunity to enjoy nighttime film screenings in an impressive open space besides the Black Lake (Crno jezero), just under the top of the Durmitor mountain, as well to participate in many other side programme activities. Thus, the festival would be contributing to the tourism and cultural offer of Žabljak and Montenegro. Green Montenegro International Film Fest is becoming a well-established center of ecological identity of Montenegro and the forerunner of the concrete activities and sustainable ideas concerning the protection of the natural resources of our country.

Organisers of this year’s festival – Center for Multimedia Production (CEZAM) in cooperation with the Municipality of Žabljak, with a support of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Environment Protection Agency, Ministry of Education and many others.

The festival is educational and non-commercial, divided into three subcategories: 1. Ecology, 2. the Ecology of the Soul and 3. Promotional and tourism videos. Besides the awards for the first, second and third place in each of the categories, the Grand Prix for the best film of the festival is also awarded.

The significance of this project is visible through the fact that the GMIFF has put Montenegro on the map of the world’s ecology- oriented events by becoming the member of the “Green Film Network” thus making the festival internationally recognized, within the 39 most renowned eco festival in the world, with an aim to create a certain image and exclusivity of the world’s first ecological state by Constitution. The project is offering a solution to the Montenegro’s need to permanently receive an original film festival based on the concept of ecology, one which would contribute to the development of social thinking and shape the further directions of the development of culture, education and social activism concerning the environmental protection.

The most important body of the festival is the Council and its members are: The President of the GMIFF Council – magister Ivana Vojinović – General Director for Environment in Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Prince Nikola Petrović, the president of the Foundation “Petrović Njegoš”, Nikola Medenica, the director of the Environment Protection Agency, ecologist Phd Vukić Pulević, diplomat Branko Lukovac, Slobodan Marunović, actor at the Montenegrin National Theatre, Milosav Anđelić, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mubera Kurpejović, General Director of the Directorate for Higher Education, Aleksandar Drljević, Montenegro’s Chief negotiator with the European Union, Željka Radak Kukavičić, Managing Director at the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, Damir Davidović, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Blagota Marunović, advisor for International Relations in the Parliament of Montenegro, Mladen Vušurović, producer (BelDocs), Vesko Vukićević, president of the Municipality of Žabljak, Miroje Džabasan, director of the Culture Centre, Slađana Knežević, secretary of the Secretariat for Administration and Social Services, Vanja Krgović – Šarović , managing director of the Tourism Organisation of Žabljak and Phd Slobodan Tomić.

The aim is to develop and raise the awareness of the need to protect the environment through the artistic impulse and the improvement of the knowledge and the awareness of the ecology through the awareness of the global trends which Montenegro tends to follow. Thus, it represents an important step forward on this path.
